My card, there it is!
Story: I had to make an Earth jutsu, which while it may seem simple enough once you start looking only Hyuga Jutsu and random stuff exist. So I went with the 12 Shinobi Guardians jutsu, Raigo: Thousand Hand Strike. But of course me being me, I had to put my own twist on it. I turned it from a mediocre jutsu into a powerhouse blocking jutsu. Both Asuma and Chiriku screwed Hidan and Kakuzu up in the manga with it, so I built a jutsu to reflect it. I started out with a boring offensive effect of injuring 2 ninja, and built it up to be this power house blocker jutsu. It's built to make sure you can't instant get the combination off it by making sure that Neither Asuma nor Chiriku can cast it the turn they come into play and block. Otherwise I think it's a simple jutsu that could see lots of play in Earth. My card is there.

| It's funny, I feel, because a year ago, or maybe two, when there were a number more competitors, and such, everyone and their dog wanted to be a judge. It was actually competitors that proved hard to find. Now, judges are like that 1/128 odds drop; good luck getting any. Kinda makes me feel that I should hold a tournament, just to see if judging it can spark up a life for me; although probably a negative one. | |

| No I'm still alive.
Between Christmas shopping, decorating around the house, work bearing down on me, helping my Uncle sort through some of my Aunt's stuff since she passed away, and being out of town this weekend (something I desperately needed to get my mental state back on track before I went insane from the pressure), I haven't had the time. I realize you're all waiting but it's just a hard time for me and my family right now. I will try my best to get the results for the last 2 rounds up tonight.

I realize you're all waiting but it's just a hard time for me and my family right now. I will try my best to get the results for the last 2 rounds up tonight. I wholly understand; when my Dad died this June, I was in a similar state, and I didn't even see him often before that. I was merely thinking back to what things were like when I started card-making. If ____ said "hey, I'm thinking of holding a tournament," people who I don't even think had 5 posts, and who didn't ever make cards would flock to it and say "hey, can I judge it?" It's just odd to me how it's changed over the years since then. I'm not saying you don't want to judge, or the others, either; I work retail overnights, and can imagine how busy everyone might be. I just remember when no one wanted to participate, except to rag on other people's work with some authority, and now, well I don't know how much work went in to requesting that you three judge, but I remember some time there where it looked like we might not find everyyone. Then the holidays showed up. I'm sure once that's passed, things will pick up, if people can just be patient with it. like I'm thinking at work, just one more week, and then it's smooth sailing for a couple of months. Maybe here, too.

| I'm so upset with my judges right now, except you Tsu. You actually keep me updated.
Thayli I haven't had contact with for weeks...
Zero quit...
It's true about the difficulty of judge searching. However I do not want any member who participated this year to judge. That is because they could tilt the judging. Yes I know, I was referring to bias when everyone thinks my judges are bias, which they are not. But I want this to run as smooth as possible.
Alright the first 4 rounds are over, top 8 is in the midst of being judged. Contestants get a one week break for Christmas while the Judges, or what's left of them, must post their Judgings for Round 3 and Round 4. In the event of a tie in either round I shall figure out a method or find a 3rd judge.

| Round 3 scoring. I will get Round 4 up tomorrow. I'm halfway done grading VSA's card.
Venkelos (Gaara)
ARTWORK 4.5/5
Is it grainy? No Is it rendered well? Is it smooth? Ever so slightly blurry Does it have a white line? Is it smooth? Yes Does it have a dropped shadow? Yes Is the placement correct? Yes Is the image quality good? Yes
CARD LAYOUT 4.5/5
Is the template itself clear/clean? It seems somewhat blurry. Maybe it's the whole card? Are the symbols placed correctly? Yes Are the symbols easy to read? Yes Are the numbers on the card clear? Yes Is the combat attribute clear? Yes Card Number/Set Symbol/Rarity? Yes
TEXT LAYOUT 3.5/5 -The Actual Formatting of the Text of the Card (Effect Text, Characteristics, Name, Flavor Text, Effect Surname) Is the font correct? No. In addition, there's far too much flavor text and it's "bolded" which makes it an eye sore. Is the color correct? Yes Is the sizing correct? Yes Is the spacing correct? Yes Is the templating correct? Yes
-Characteristics Is everything in order? Yes
SPELLING & GRAMMAR 3.5/5 -Spelling on the card and the grammar on the card Is everything spelled correctly? Yes Does the card make sense when you read it? Yes Is it too difficult to understand what's going on? No Is it worded properly?/Does it follow the correct effect structure for cards? No. Should say "Ninja cards with . . ."
Easier to also just word it as "Ninja Cards with the 'Wind' Symbol in your chakra can count as 2 'Wind' Chakra."
EFFECT TEXT 4.5/5 -Balance Is it too powerful/weak overall? Maybe Is it too powerful/weak for it's requirements/rarity/cost/turn marker? No.
I really like this card's effect. The card is weak on your opponent's turn, but strong on yours. I like that he also gives himself a pump. And there are very few cards that give plus chakra, especially in an element who has no way to defend itself from chakra drain. It's certainly unique, and it definitely fits the flavor of the card. If I had to find any gripes, it is that the card maybe too weak. The Fifth Kazekage [Reliance] saw little to no play and it was essentially an 8/4 on turn 5 that was immune to effects. This one may be slightly better though cause of Mastery.
Final score: 20.5/25
Mendokuse (Kankuro)
ARTWORK 4.75/5 -Actual picture used for card Is it grainy? No Is it rendered well? Is it smooth? Yes Does it have a white line? Is it smooth? Yes Does it have a dropped shadow? Yes Is the placement correct? Yes Is the image quality good? It's clearly a vector from the manga, but it's a DAMN good one. Still, a vector is slightly off.
CARD LAYOUT 4.5/5 -The Actual Template itself Is the template itself clear/clean? Yes Are the symbols placed correctly? Yes Are the symbols easy to read? Sort of. I know people have knocked me in the past for this but in order to be fair, if I penalized people in this round for covering up the words on the symbol, I have to do the same for everyone.
Are the numbers on the card clear? Yes Is the combat attribute clear? Yes Card Number/Set Symbol/Rarity? Yes
TEXT LAYOUT 4/5 -The Actual Formatting of the Text of the Card (Effect Text, Characteristics, Name, Flavor Text, Effect Surname) Is the font correct? Not really. There seems to be something wrong with the "Effect Text" font. Too bold? Is the color correct? Yes Is the sizing correct? Yes Is the spacing correct? Yes Is the templating correct? Yes.
-Characteristics Is everything in order? Yes
SPELLING & GRAMMAR 5/5 -Spelling on the card and the grammar on the card Is everything spelled correctly? Yes Does the card make sense when you read it? Yes Is it too difficult to understand what's going on? Yes Is it worded properly?/Does it follow the correct effect structure for cards? Yes Using "May" instead of "Can"/Use "Can" when appropriate? (Can is correct.) Yes
EFFECT TEXT 1.5/5 -Balance Is it too powerful/weak overall? Very weak. 3/3 2/2 is VERY weak stats on a turn 4. Chiyo is clearly the standard if you are only 3 combat. A sacrifice on top of that is somewhat costly.
Is it too powerful/weak for it's requirements/rarity/cost/turn marker? Maybe.
From a creative standpoint, I love the way this card works. There's just one MAJOR hangup with it. The card doesn't give Ambush to your Ninjas in the chakra area. So this raises the question, can I only Ambush Ninja that have Ambush? Or can I Ambush any? The card doesn't clarify and when you first read it, it just raises the question about which it is. If it doesn't give Ambush, then this card is clearly resigned to something like water, which makes it an element mismatch. If it does give it, then the card is clearly very good. I assume you meant the later where you can Ambush away. Regardless, I feel that this is a pretty big thing to overlook. The sacrifice seems out of place too. If you were worried about it being in Water, don't use Sacrifice. Use a Hand Cost to keep it in the element is meant to be in. I love the construction of the card Mendo but the effect and nerfs make it hard to score well in this category.
Final Score: 19.75/25

| Hazaah!!! for cryptic? I don't mean to be in any way insulting, but why do people like to do that? Why tell us you did something, if you don't want to/can't tell us what? It's like when someone asks the Nintendo rep if something is going to be in the next whatever game. "Q: Hey, is Zelda going to appear in the next Zelda game for the Wii (Skyward Sword)? A: Well, I really can't comment on that, right now. All I can say is that we are working on the game. Please don't ask me any questions, whatsoever, about any of our upcoming games?" They don't like to share ANYTHING, but they like to remind us it's happening. - Spoiler:
Sorry, but I just got Oblivion, and found out that PS3 doesn't support any DLC for it, other than a very spendy Shivering Isles. I wish I had known ahead of time, and don't like their BS answers for why their version is drastically inferior.
Sorry to berate you, but saying you talked about something with someone, without getting to know either just begs the question why let slip you did? If it is at all positive, then I hope the mystery people listen, because this is, overall, still a fun tournament. Here's fingers crossed.

| Kinda sorry to post this here, on the tourney thread, but it's an off week, so I hope no one will mind much. It's that magical time of year, again, and to commemorate another Christmas going by, here is the Leaf Ninja Kissing Booth, giving out kisses to raise money for needy kids, or something. Anyone surprised that I did this again, this year, shouldn't be. I have no shame with stuff like this, and wanted to do it before someone else did. It is different in effect, if not much else, and hopefully will spread some Christmas cheer among the folks here. Have a happy holiday, everyone. | |

I hate to be 'that guy', but rlly, some of it doesn't make sense >.< for Venkelos's judging, what's up with the point reduction for a large flavor text? It's not like anyone said there's a limit to flavor text How is the jutsu scroll choppy? I mean, I used the Ultra Template... for the EFFECT TEXT category, what do you mean by "I think you could have been more concise"? One more thing, in VSA's Jutsu, "printed " is supposed to be capitalized, and "printed Entrance cost of 4 or more" is supposed to be in quotations. Do explain how he still gets 5/5 in SPELLING & GRAMMAR I don't care if I get bashed for this, but these are important things that need to be looked at.
