The artwork. . . it burns my eyes. I looked at it and was thinking it might be something out of a coloring book. The effect is not only very powerful, it isn't worded correctly. Does the card have to be discarded at random? Do I look at their hand? How do we decide? Even though the effect is strong, the stats are off. 11 Point spread on a turn 5 is just bad. Even Yamato CBF, a ridiculous turn 5 with Mastery, has 12 poitns. The text spacing and boldness seems off. Overall, the effect just feels like Roshi's with a little sprinkling of something like Itachi (Anbu Days) on the side.

I'm not complaining or anything, but it sounds like you missed the -1 entrance part? I don't have any issues with the judging, but you didn't mention it in your review Tongue And if you want an answer, you select a card in your opponent's hand. Since you're don't actually look at your opponent's hand, does that mean it's random?
lol, I was worried that he would be too strong considering he RFGs cards, and the fact he can be played on turn 4. X3
Wish I had Elan-Medium. I don't, so I'm stuck improvising Sad
now I'm just ranting >.>

Hi, I submitted my results to MJM earlier, but apparently he goes to bed around 10, so I'll just post them up now. Because of the large volume of participants, I didn't include any explinations for my scores, but I probably will for future rounds. Most of you wont be particularly happy with my scores, so if I were you I would probably compare my work with someone who scored in the top percentile (I believe 20 was the highest score I gave out) that way you know what you need to be able to do if you want a higher score in the following rounds.

Another thing that the other judges and I were discussing are the catagories. We feel that there is some overlap, and we want to come up with a better and much clearer system, in order to give out more accurate scores. If Judges X and Y interpret the use of the Neatness catagory differently, it's obvious their scores will look different.

Haha, if he was in the bottom two, he wouldn't need to give up, would he?

Anyway, I can't answer for aurelio, naturally, but it's not hard to imagine being a little unhappy with the scores that were posted. I must admit, there are some strange things going on with them. It's probably simply due to the large number of entries, but I can't help but feel that there are a lot of things that were overlooked.

It's rude of me to call him out, but on VSA's card for instance, there are no fewer than 6 capitalization errors, but two of the judges gave him 5/5 on text. That being said, when the individual matches begin, I'm sure the judges can afford to be more scrutinizing.

Also, I think a different point system would benefit the tourney as well. There does seem to be some overlap and unclear areas with this one.

first of all, i hate people who don't respect intelligence of other people. for instance i am talking about this retarded question:
Quote :
I dont believe you are in the bottom 2, so why exactly are you giving up?

i am giving up because judging was made with prejudices, and wasn't fair. like lovely ino said, there are entries with visible errors which are scored better than "0" or "1".

i respect guys like mjm, vsa, thayli, and others who are posting much on bandai and who are in naruto ccg for a long time, and i respect their experience in naruto ccg. i also respect mendokuse and naruto4ever like really good card makers. but, since this is a tournament of naruto fans, and judges are from bandai forum, i really can't take the fact that judging is based on giving a credits in a form of high scores for a card making, to guys who are posting every day on bandai forum, or to a guys who are in administration on this forum, which absolutely doesn't have anything with this tournament. i really don't point out to anyone.

thayli's judging was pretty good but judging of tsukiyome and zero wasn't fair at all. i really can't stand that somebody will hit "0" or "1" just because he is able to do that. this is supposed to be a fun, not a playground for a guys who are responsible for something irrelevant once in a lifetime. are you feeling powerful when you hit "0" or "1"?

In a way, you are correct, some players for this round used lower-quality cards then normal so they could use their better cards in the later rounds. I'm rlly mad that MJM specifically set a deadline, but then he lets someone not only post up a card a week after the deadline, but even sign up in the first place, when sign ups were supposed to be closed a long time ago. So basically we're allowed to post our card a WEEK after the deadline?!? We're allowed to sign up way after sign ups are supposed to be closed?!?

Alright. I'm going to have to apologize for VSA's entry. During the time of entries, we had an argument. And that left a chill in the air between us. I figured he wanted to enter but we both had to uphold our big senses of pride. It was partially my fault he couldn't enter in time.

New Judging System. Yes, the one we used was outdated and basic. Our three judges are going to team up and set up a better judging system.

Aurelio: Don't quit. Go hard. Judges are going to be spoken to and the rubric will be revised. I'm going to tell them about this

Final scores.

venkelos: 16 + 13 + 11 = 40/75

CursedSealing Dragon: 22 + 20 + 17.5 = 59.5/75

Sharingansasuke33: 9 + 7 + 7 = 23/75

Aurelio: 19 + 14 + 11 = 44/75

mendokuse: 22.5 + 22 + 19 = 63.5/75

chidoricurrent2: 19 + 12.75 + 13 = 44.75/75

Satanspawngenma: 14 + 12.5 +11 = 37.5/75

UchihaKyoji23: 15 + 15.25 + 13 = 43.25/75

Susano'o the Storm God: 11 + 7 + 9 = 27/75

Undeadflayme: 12 + 12.5 + 9 = 33.5/75

User Name: 16 + 15.5 + 17.5 = 49/75

Lovely Ino: 19.5 + 21 + 18 = 58.5/75

naruto4ever: 19 + 21.5 + 20 = 60.5/75

Shino'sDad: 22.5 + 20 + 20 = 62.5

MJM: 22 + 22 + 20 = 64/75

Megamarik: 13 + 15.25 + 12 = 40.25/75

Ninja Pebble: 19 + 14.75 + 15 = 48.75/75

VSA: 23 + 21 + 14.5 = 58.5/75

Sorry SS33 and Susano'o. You two will be leaving us this round. Better luck next time.

Round 1 Info will be up in a few moments.

First of all, neither one of us were going to swallow our pride. There's something about being a man called "pride", it's difficult to swallow.

Secondly, VSA is card making as we know it. He is the one who made the templates, found the texts, and created the white outline. VSA is the original. I believe that results in some credit.

Okie dokie, I guess I'd like to withdraw from the tourney.

I dislike this situation. Really, I'm on Susano'o's side here that the late entry was a touch unprofessional, and I can understand him feeling cheated. So, this works out best since VSA and Susano'o can both proceed. Good luck, guys.

It's fine. The great people of the Custom Card Forum have spoken. I wont compete in this event.

Btw, for all those that think I missed the cut off, the original rule said you had 7 days to post a card from that posts date. I was within the time frame for posting. Just something to think about.

Good luck to all competitors, best wishes to all. Thumbs up

Um, I'm pretty sure it says that registration ended on November 1. You should have to register in an event to be eligible to compete in the first place, right? I mean, you didn't even pick a number. Just something to think about. Wink

This turned out to be way too much drama. I don't even know who's in anymore.

Rules interpretation from MJM confirmed what I thought. I asked him and he said I was within the time frame. It's completely fine, I've withdrawn from this and any future competition that this site will have. I most likely wont be posting cards anymore either, so you wont have to deal with me anymore. As I said before, I've withdrawn myself from the event and I apologize for trying to get special treatment from the judges of the event. I don't know what else you want me to do otherwise.

Again, I, VSA, hereby withdraw myself from this tournament.

Good luck to the competitors once again, and may the best person win. Thumbs up

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I can assure you, I couldn't care less wether someone I know, or someone I don't know wins.

Errors such as missing capatilization don't exactly warrant an automatic "0" in my book. If Errors were that extreme more cards would have lowers scores, and you would probably even more angry.

i respect guys like mjm, vsa, thayli, and others who are posting much on bandai and who are in naruto ccg for a long time, and i respect their experience in naruto ccg. i also respect mendokuse and naruto4ever like really good card makers. but, since this is a tournament of naruto fans, and judges are from bandai forum, i really can't take the fact that judging is based on giving a credits in a form of high scores for a card making, to guys who are posting every day on bandai forum, or to a guys who are in administration on this forum, which absolutely doesn't have anything with this tournament. i really don't point out to anyone.
I'll reitterate, I don't really care who wins, as long as their cards are good. I also have no idea who the administration on this forum is, as I just signed up last night to post up my scores.

thayli's judging was pretty good but judging of tsukiyome and zero wasn't fair at all. i really can't stand that somebody will hit "0" or "1" just because he is able to do that. this is supposed to be a fun, not a playground for a guys who are responsible for something irrelevant once in a lifetime. are you feeling powerful when you hit "0" or "1"?
So, was Thayli's judging good because he gave you a decent score? Was my judging bad because I didn't? I didn't give you a 0 because I felt like it, or because I don't know you. If that were the case there would be more 0's since I only happen to know 3 of the entrants total. I gave your card a 0 because the effect was poorly worded, convoluted, and was very difficult to keep track of. Cards like that aren't fun, and often just create more confusion than anything. If you don't agree with my assesment, then thats fine, but I'm not playing favorites, and while I don't care much about who wins, I am take scoring seriously.

Ultimate Card Maker Tournament 2010 - Page 5 Empty

Alright, let's keep this moving, shall we? I apologize for the lateness of Round One information. One of our judges, Thayli, quickly came up with a much better bracket and thus I had to Photoshop it. As I was Photoshoping it, my CS3 froze and the file I was working on was not saved. I somehow was able to "Print Screen" what was left and just filled in the gaps afterwards which took up a long time. Nonetheless, here is the bracket.

(Edit: Turns out the full image doesn't show. To see the rest, go here.)

We will be doing a "NCAA Basketball Tournament Style" bracket. So the 4 contestants in each corner will go against whoever their respective "kunai" is pointing to. Then, the winner of that will face the winner of the other match in their corner. Then we will continue to Top 8, Top 4, etc.

Now we will be doing 2 matches, a.k.a. 1 corner, per round at the moment. This is to speed things up a bit and hopefully we will be able to finish Top 16 within a months time.

How were you matched up? Thayli did this randomly.

Now, what do the Ninja and Element Symbols mean? They give you the Requirements of your round. For example, Round 1 involves 2 pairs. The 1st pair must make an Earth Ninja while the 2nd pair must make a Fire Ninja. How were the requirements decided?

Well I used an Elemental NJM system. It goes in this order.

Earth Ninja
Fire Ninja
Lightning Ninja
Water Ninja
Wind Ninja
Earth Jutsu
Fire Jutsu
Lightning Jutsu
Water Jutsu
Wind Jutsu
Earth Mission
Fire Mission
Lightning Mission
Water Mission
Wind Mission

We will be following this format until Top 4 where there are less restrictive requirements. I believe this is fair.

Now Round 1 will end 12:00 AM EST on Sunday, November 22nd, 2010. Judges should post their judgings by 12:00 AM EST, on Saturday, November 28th, 2010. During that week, Round 2 will take place. Further details will be announced in the future.

Trivia: The background of the bracket is in honor of VSA who dropped out upon request. This was his mat design from a while back. Fitting, no?

Alright. I'm going to have to apologize for VSA's entry. During the time of entries, we had an argument. And that left a chill in the air between us. I figured he wanted to enter but we both had to uphold our big senses of pride. It was partially my fault he couldn't enter in time.

That's a poor excuse for a bullshit entry like that. How about next time, you let us know about something like this.
Side note: wish I had Elan-Medium :/

You're a pretty poor excuse for a whiny *****. Oh and the beach called, it wants its sand back from your vagina.

VSA, I would like you to know, that it's nothing personal from me. It's just that in a real tourney, you can't just join the tourney after sign ups are up and in the middle of judging. Tbh, I actually feel I over-reacted a little bit. Honestly, you're a cool guy, and tbh, I think I feel a little bad now, but I think MJM (or whoever is the host for that matter) should let us know ahead of time when something like this happens, because otherwise what happened today will happen again.
btw, doe's anyone know how to get Elan-Medium for free? I rlly need to get a hold of that font.
